Hi, I'm Sam!
I'm the hiker and dog lover that started Herd It Hikes, a pet care business that's main focus is ~trail time. Having two crazy dogs of my own, I know how important exercise, sniffing and general training can be for a dogs mental and physical health. Hiking is my favorite outlet for this for my dogs (and myself!), and I'm here to offer that for your pup(s) as well!
While my focus is on dog hiking, I also offer dog walking, drop-in visits, field trips, farm visits, pet taxi services and more!
I keep things fun and positive, always have treats in my fanny pack and I'll send you a bunch of pictures and a trip summary at the end of every visit.
I'm also fully insured!
While we currently live in Utah, me and my dogs have been all over the US. I've hiked in NH, VT, ME, PA, VA, NC, TN, SC, FL, TX, NM, UT, AZ, NV, CA, OR, WA, SD. I've been to 20 National Parks and countless national forests and state parks.
My two dogs are Kodi and Candy. I also have two cats, Rene and Tali.
My Services
I use an app called Time To Pet for all services, keeping everything in one convenient place. You and your pets information will be saved under your profile and you'll be able to request or change services, make payments, send messages, receive trip summaries and more!
I require a meet and greet for all services where I get to know you and your pet(s) and make sure we will be a good fit. This can be immediately before a service or ahead of time, whatever works for you. It typically takes 30 minutes and is free!

Hikes
* Up to 2 dogs from the same household.
Give your pup(s) the opportunity to romp around on a long line out on some trails! Throughout the hike I will work on their basic trail manners while also letting them sniff (and pee) to their hearts desire. Each hike includes lots of training treats and lots of fun! All hikes are private and planned around your dog's needs.
At the end of the hike I will send a message through Time To Pet with a trip summary, lots of pictures and a GPS track of the hike. You will know where we went, how far we went, the elevation gain and more!
1.5-2hr Hike : $55
Second Dog +$15
Half Day Hike : $100

Walks
Walks can either be right out your door or to a local trail.
30 Minute Walk : $25
3 of More Dogs: +$5/dog after second dog
60 Minute Walk : $40
3 of More Dogs: +$5/dog after second dog
Drop-In Visits
Drop-in visits are a great option for dogs that have a fenced in yard and/or don't need a walk. I hang out with your pups outside (or inside if that's what they prefer) and play with them, train them or just hang out with them.
30 Minute Visit : $25
3 or More Dogs: +$5/dog
60 Minute Visit : $40
3 or More Dogs: +$5/dog
Cat Visit : $20
Field Trips
Field Trips are a great option for puppies, older dogs, reactive dogs or dogs that just want to get out of the house but don't need to go on a long hike. Each field trip is planned with you and your pups needs and wants in mind. Some trip ideas include:
- Short, quiet sniffy walk
- Indoor establishment visit
- Field visit (fetch, recall training, sniffing)
- General car ride
- Parking lot visit (reactivity training)
